You can rent an instrument through the website. All orders are completed online before the delivery of the instrument.
The first payment installment is made by bank or credit card before the transfer of the instrument’s possession.
Vuokrasoitin charges the rent monthly in advance for the following month.
You can either pick up your rented instrument from our store in Helsinki or have it shipped to your location anywhere within Finland (Unfortunately, we do not ship basses.).
If you choose to pick up the instrument from the store, we recommend making a reservation online first.
To choose the right size instrument, please refer to our sizing guide available on our website, which will help you determine the appropriate size based on age and arm length measurements.

Rental payments accumulate rental credit (rental payment = rental credit), which can be used within 30 days of terminating the rental contract to purchase an instrument from How Violins.
Rental credit can be used to pay for UP TO 50% of the instrument’s purchase price.
Rental credit cannot be used for purchasing bows, cases, electronic instruments, accessories, or shipping costs for instruments. The rental credit is valid for 30 days after the end of the rental agreement, after which it will be forfeited.
We accept payments through major credit and bank cards, including Visa, Mastercard, and American Express, as well as all Finnish payment cards.
Yes, you can extend your rental period for as long as you need the instrument. The rental agreement is valid indefinitely, and you will be charged on a monthly basis.
Yes, you can return your rented instrument early. To initiate the return process, please fill out the form below to notify us of your intention to return the instrument. You can then return the instrument to our store location or ship it back to us.
Each instrument set comes with the instrument itself, a bow, a case, and any necessary accessories, such as rosin and a shoulder rest for violins and violas.
The renter can buy an instrument (violin, viola, cello, bass) from How Violins Oy.
Ownership of the purchased instrument will transfer to the renter when they have
- Purchased the instrument,
- paid all accumulated rents (for all their rental contracts), and
- paid the instrument’s retail price.
The renter agrees to maintain insurance covering the value of the instrument for the entire rental period, including any damages, disappearance, or destruction of the instrument.

If the instrument has not been returned within 30 days after the end of the rental period, the lessor has the right to charge the retail price of the instrument multiplied by 1.25 in addition to any accumulated rents instead of the instrument’s return requirement. The ownership of the instrument transfers to the buyer once the rents and the purchase price (multiplied by 1.25) have been paid.

For best results, we recommend that you consult the How Violins staff or your teacher before purchasing your instrument. Measuring instructions: With your child’s arm straight down, measure the length from the neck to the center of the palm in centimeters.
